First Steps

Developing Your Personal Relationship with God.

Making Jesus Christ the Lord of your life is the biggest decision you will ever make. It is always a good time to put your trust in Him for the first time or to renew your commitment to trusting Him to guide your life.

The Greater Beulah Church is here to help you develop a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. Here are some simple steps to get you started.

Step 1: The ABCs of Faith

Admit to God that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. There is not a person alive who does not struggle with sin. It’s a part of who we are as descendants of Adam. To make matters worse, the result of sin is spiritual death or separation from God. You begin your journey towards salvation when you admit your sinfulness to God.

Believe in your heart what the Gospel teaches about Jesus Christ. He was not just another man. Jesus Christ is the Son of God born of a virgin who died on the cross to purchase our redemption, and better still, God has raised Him from the dead and received Him into glory where He makes intercession for those who believe in Him. This is the most important step to developing your relationship with Jesus.

Confess with your mouth what you have believed. It is not enough to believe. You must say something. Say it to God. Say it to yourself. Say it to someone else. Don’t be ashamed to share your decision to trust Jesus Christ for salvation. This is what seals the deal.

If you’ve made a decision to trust Jesus Christ for salvation, pray this prayer out loud:

Lord, I admit that I am a sinner in need of a Savior. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for me, and that He lives to make intercession for me. I confess that Jesus is Lord of my life. Help me to live my life as He would have me to live. Thank you for salvation in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Step 2: Get Baptized

Baptism is an outward demonstration of an inward decision. If you’ve made a decision to trust Jesus Christ, you should find a church to be a part of and be baptized. Although your salvation doesn’t depend on baptism, being baptized is a way of identifying with your brothers and sisters in the Christ.

Stet 3: Start Your Spiritual Journey

You’ve accepted Christ and identified with His body. Now, it’s time to start your spiritual journey. Regularly attend worship services to fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Get involved in a Bible study. Develop your devotional life using the Discussion Guides provided with each of Dr. Mickles’ sermons. Find a friend to help you along your way.
